Hiring New Tattoo Artist
Ocean Blue Tattoo is conducting, on an ongoing basis, open interviews with skilled and talented artists passionate about tattooing. The applicant must be a professional, clean, drug and drama-free artist with good customer service skills. We have established a respectable and loyal clientele and are seeking artists who can match the quality and expertise that our shop has become known for. We provide everything but a tattoo machine and power supply. We also support your health insurance. The artist must be willing to adopt our strict cleanliness standards and techniques to prevent cross-contamination and must understand and abide by Blood Borne Pathogens Standards.Please send us an email with your portfolio so we can discuss your options. Becoming a tattoo apprentice to be a professional tattoo artist.
We regularly receive inquiries from aspiring tattoo artists about apprenticeship opportunities. Here's what we look for in an ideal apprentice candidate:

Artistic skill — a strong foundation in drawing, painting, or other visual arts is essential. Your portfolio should demonstrate creativity, line control, and an eye for composition.

Art-centered education — formal or informal art education is a plus. This shows commitment to learning and developing your craft.

Understanding of safety and sanitation — you must be willing to adopt our strict cleanliness standards and techniques to prevent cross-contamination. Knowledge of Blood Borne Pathogens Standards is required.

No at-home tattooing history — we do not accept apprentices who have tattooed at home or without professional supervision. This is a safety and quality standard we do not compromise on.

No drug use — our studio is a drug-free environment. Random drug testing is conducted. This policy applies to all artists and apprentices.
